Cast iron versus aluminium

A lot of older Dublin semis still have original cast iron runs. We restore them where we can. Good cast iron, properly primed and painted, will outlast most modern systems. However, when it is beyond saving, aluminium seamless guttering is what we fit instead. It does not rust, and the profiles sit cleanly against the fascia. One thing people do not always think about is fascia capping aluminium colour matching. Get that wrong and it looks patched. We get it right.

Straight talk

Brackets matter. Spacing matters. Fall angle matters. We re-space fixings on runs that were never hung correctly first time. Downpipes go where the water needs to go. Simple.

Fascia and soffit

Rotten timber fascia is behind half the gutter problems we see. We replace boards in uPVC, cap existing timber where it is still sound, and make sure the whole roofline looks solid before we leave the job.
