Old stone versus modern porcelain

A lot of customers come to us wanting that classic York-stone look. Fair enough. It’s familiar. It ages well. However, modern vitrified porcelain has genuinely closed the gap on appearance, and it handles frost, staining and drainage far better. We’ll give you an honest opinion on which suits your garden, your budget, and how much maintenance you actually want to do.

Slip resistance and finish

One thing we always raise with customers, especially on sloped gardens. We use a flame-textured granite anti-slip finish on exposed areas where grip genuinely matters. It looks well and it does a proper job. Wet leaves in October will find a way to floor someone (I’ve slipped on my own show area, so I’m not above learning the hard way).
