Patios Oldtown

Patios Oldtown

The ground stays wet longer than people think

Irish rainfall is no joke. I have seen beautifully laid patios buckle and shift inside two winters because the falls were not set correctly from the start. That is the first thing I focus on, before any slab goes down. Get the drainage right, or the rest is wasted work.

We have been doing this long enough to know what the ground around Oldtown throws at you. Frost, standing water, ground movement. None of it is unusual here. You just have to build with it in mind rather than hope it does not show up.

What we lay

We work across a fair range of surfacing options, and it is worth knowing what is actually available to you:

  • Indian sandstone patios
  • Porcelain paving
  • Limestone patio installations
  • Granite slabbing
  • Garden paving and pathways

Each one behaves differently underfoot and in the wet. Porcelain, for instance, needs a solid, well-prepared bed or it will hollow out over time. Indian sandstone is forgiving to look at but it still needs proper pointing. We do not cut corners on any of them.

The broader work we take on

Patios are only part of it. We also lay new lawns from turf, put up wooden fencing, and handle bricklaying where the job needs it. A lot of our work comes from people who have let a garden go a bit quiet (and who hasn’t, honestly) and want it brought back to a usable standard.

We have done work near Parnell GAA grounds and right across north Dublin. We know the soil conditions, we know the typical garden sizes, and we know what lasts.

Some jobs are small. That is fine too.
